It is absolutely necessary to mention that Birmingham's serves the best burgers in Door County. I grew up about 4 miles down Bay Shore Drive and still love to visit Birmingham's when I am in town. In fact, I wait with giddy anticipation to do so. The burgers are served on sourdough bread and then topped with Velveeta cheese. As I already mentioned, they are offensively good. It's a hole in the wall, sure, but the locals flock to it and somehow the tourists haven't figured it out.

One of our favorite neighborhood bars/restaurants. Bartenders are friendly and make you feel at home. Friday nite fish fry is best on peninsula (shhhhhh!).

Based on other reviews we came for the Friday fish fry. We arrived shortly after it started. This is a small mom and pop place with a small dining room. Because it is small it gets full fast. It is loud as the noise echos off the hardwood walls. I ordered the pan fried whitefish, my wife ordered the shrimp and perch combo. I also ordered a bloody Mary based on the reviews. Wow! It was a wicked drink. Beware! It is very spicy. I didn't mind that as much as the excessive celery salt. We got our food in a timely manner. The food was hot off the grill. The skin on mine was burned, but It came off leaving the fish nicely done. My wife's shrimp was good the perch average. The meals came with a generous amount of fries and a scoop of coleslaw. The food and tax was $30.00. The drinks were average price. Beware! They don't accept plastic. It says so on the back of the menu. I give this place 3 stars. Ok for a mom and pop joint. It's right down the road or it wouldn't be worth the drive.

Local favorite, classic WI supper club, great fish fry on Fridays and THE BEST burgers in Door County. Great owners and a great shop across the street.

The previous review commented that Birmingham's is great for drinks. I can agree with that. However, from a dinner standpoint I was let down. The food was under par compared to other supper clubs and restaurants in the area. I should point out that the staff is very friendly as well which saved the three star rating.

I would love to give it 5 stars, this place almost deserves it. Friendly staff and locals, cold PBR and one of the top 5 best burgers I've ever had; Nothing but onions and cheese.Not for Chicagoins who are looking for a Chicago menu. I guess that's why I love this place... you can't get this kind of place in Chicago, and that's a sad reality.

I'm writing only in reference to the bar/restaurant. Have not stayed at the cottages. Hand patted burgers on home made white bread. Need I say more??? Also hand breaded fresh cheese curds fried till golden! Heaven. Perch Fry on Friday nights too. Great bloody mary's and I always ask for a deck of cards to play solitaire while spending my time there.

B.A.D. Bad. Don't be fooled by the idea of a place where locals eat. It was awful. We enjoy down home places with paper plates if they have great food. The food was disgusting. So bad that I feel obligated to write a review. We got the medley fried basket to start. The mushrooms weren't cooked, they forgot the fries, and the chicken strips were the cheap ground up chicken formed into strip. Not actual chicken breasts. We still had hope that dinner would be good. But it arrived with an iceberg lettuce salad and the waitress informed me I needed to wait for the dressing from another table before I could eat it. I got a cheeseburger and fries since I heard they were the best burgers in door county. If that is the case, no one should ever order a burger in door county. I was seduced by the homemade white bread, and at first I thought it might redeem the meal. Unfortunately the giant slab of unmelted Velveeta cheese served as a warning. First bite was OK, second bite had a giant chunk of char that I had to remove before it was edible. Third bite showed the pure pink raw core of the burger as the homemade white bread completely disintegrated under my fingers. And the fries.. . They still had not arrived. When they did, they were raw in the middle and completely inedible. I asked that they be removed from my bill. As for my partners food? He got the 1/4 roasted chicken special. ICK. That's all I can say. Fatty chicken, mushy unrecognizable inedible stuffing, canned cranberries. And the waitress? The only one there and very angry about it. Not pleasant. It is rare when I can't find anything good to say. Let's see, perhaps try drinking massive amounts of alcohol before you eat. That might help. The drinks were good.

Birmingham's is great for drinks. With a jukebox, pinball machine and $1.75 drafts, you can't go wrong.

Revisited Birmingham's tonight. Delicious broiled whitefish, the best old fashioneds anywhere, and friendly locals. Classic Wisconsin supper club serving up good food and local charm. Whenever I revisit this place, nothing has changed, which is awesome. Love love love.

We came for burgers on a recommendation and are so glad we did! All of the food was very obviously freshly made and the service was friendly. We enjoyed the fresh cut fries, burgers, cheese curds, and even the chef's salad was tasty.
